General English & English for Academic Purposes
Overview
The structure of the course consists of four language levels, 1, 2, 3 and 4. At the lower language levels 1 and 2, the emphasis is almost entirely on General English, although both the selection of course materials and the elaboration of the syllabus will enable you to make a smooth transition to the subsequent EAP (English for Academic Purposes) component. When you have satisfactorily complete levels 1 and 2, you may proceed to the more Academic English components of levels 3 and 4. You will find a gradual shift in emphasis from General English at level 1 to Academic English at level 4. The revision of General English will remain consistent throughout the course.
General English follows a syllabus of grammatical, lexical, phonological, textual and functional/contextual language features in an integrated and carefully planned sequence. Through student-centred tasks and projects of increasing complexity, this leads into the Academic English unit.
Academic English covers a range of language skills and activities specific to academic contexts, including reading for gist & summarising, listening to lectures, essay & report-writing and making presentations.

Methodology
We believe that you learn English best by using it. This means that you will need to spend a lot of time practicing and speaking with other students. Our teachers will listen to you, correct your mistakes, build your confidence, and give you advice on how you can improve. They will also show you ways to practice your English outside the classroom so that you can progress quickly.
Placement Test
You will take a placement test and have an interview with the Academic Coordinator during your enrolment. Based on your placement test we will recommend your entry level.
Teachers
We know the difference a great teacher makes in language learning. Our teachers are all qualified and highly experienced native-speakers, with international teaching experience. But what makes teachers truly exceptional is that they are selected for their personality, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to see you succeed.
Assessment
We monitor your improvement at all times and there is a final exam at the end of each level. If your course work, attendance and test results are all satisfactory, you will be able to progress to the next level.
Graduation & Awards
Students who successfully complete each level will be awarded an English Language Certificate by TEG International College.
